The songwriters behind some of the most iconic tracks in contemporarydance music have teamed up for an exhilarating new journey into the outerreaches of electronica. VCATION is a creative project born out of a desire toescape genres, conventions and limitations, forging a new and organic directionfor two producers closely associated with a big-room EDM sound. Taking a vacationfrom the high-voltage, maximalist approach that defined their work with SwedishHouse Mafia and Martin Garrix, VCATION seeks to capture the sound of the sunsetafter-party, threading together organic elements to produce music thatprioritises melody and emotion over all other considerations. “It is about capturinga feeling. If you sing from the heart, people are going to respond – peoplealways recognise your realness.” Made up of John Martin and Michel Zitron, VCATION fuses thetalents of two visionary songwriters and vocalists. These two stunninglyaccomplished musicians have worked closely with Swedish House Mafia for severalyears, writing the universally acclaimed EDM ultra-hit ‘Don’t You Worry Child’,while contributing to a host of adrenaline-pumping hits, from Tiesto’s ‘Red Lights’to Martin Garrix’s ‘Now That I’ve Found You’ to Tinie Tempah’s ‘Children of TheSun’. After a period of creative burnout, the pair decided to channel theirenergy and narrow their focus into an exciting new project that flies farbeyond the boundaries of their previous productions. Their debut single asVCATION, ‘Lay Low’, was released in summer 2018: the pair are currently workingin the studio on their debut album, scheduled for release in 2019.
