A man of musical passion, Nigerian singer/songwriter Inetimi Timaya Odom, who goes by stage name Timaya, has led a vivacious Reggae/Dancehall music career since 2005. In a career that has succeeded a decade, Timaya has managed to create thriving hit singles and albums in the ever-competitive music industry. Since breaking into the spotlight with his hit single Dem Mama in 2005, he has been nicknamed Egberi Papa 1 (the town crier of the people) of Bayelsa for bringing to light the brutality emanating from soliders in the Delta region. He has also admirably been crowned the king of Afro-Soca music for his effortlessly lyrical skill and supercharged beats. His popularity and fan base grew so much after his second album in 2008 that he’s released new music almost every year since. The lead single, Plantain Boy, from his third album De Rebirth gained him visibility and prominence across the charts. His talent spans various genres, including Raga, afrobeat and afro hip-hop, which has given him a strong foothold in the industry and seen him produce six studio albums and an EP, earning him numerous multiplatinum singles. Before his solo artistry, Timaya spent years writing songs and producing music for other artists, even lending backup vocals to renowned musician Eedris Abdulkareem. Highly sought after, he’s collaborated and written and produced songs for other artists, like Eulonza Jordan, P Square, Spyder Man, J Martins, and Keffee. Not only masterful in the studio, he’s a vibrant showman, having toured in Africa, North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia and Asia.
