Rapper, singer, songwriter and producer Supa Bwe was born in Chicago, but his musical style draws on varied and eclectic influences from rap, indie, jazz, punk, hip-hop and heavy metal. Starting out in the studio, Supa Bwe is a respected audio engineer. His early underground collective Hurt Everybody was an influential group of local artists – including Mick Jenkins, Twin Peaks, Twista, Qari, Mulatto Beats and Saba – who experimented with the boundaries of hip-hop. The group disbanded in 2016 and Supa Bwe released his album Dead Again 3 which was described by Vice as simply “cool as hell”. Lead single Fool Wit It Freestyle, featuring Chance the Rapper, scored over 11m views on YouTube. Supa Bwe’s 2017 LP Finally Dead featured collaborations with Saba, Xavier Omar, Juju and UG Vavy and was acclaimed by the likes of Hype Beast and XXL Magazine, reaching No 3 on the iTunes Hip Hop/Rap chart. His song Up Right Now featured on the soundtrack of the 20th Anniversary NBA2K19 video game. Considered an early pioneer of experimental hip-hop and a pioneer within the Chicago scene, Supa Bwe now plays at festivals and events alongside the likes of Lil Yachty, Kodak Black and Playboi Carti, and was a featured local artist in the Lollapalooza 2018 line-up. In 2018 Hurt Everybody reunited for a one-off concert to the delight of their extensive fan-base.
