SUGABABES

With six UK No 1 singles, eighteen Top 10 hits and five Top 10 albums under their belts, the Sugababes are one of the most successful British girl groups of all time. Their cool attitude, sleek harmonies and catchy R&B-infused pop sound dominated the UK charts in the ‘00s and earned them six BRIT Award nominations, including a win for Best British Dance Act in 2003. Formed in 1998 by Siobhan Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan, the band’s debut single ‘Overload’ became an instant hit in 2000, reaching No 6 on the UK Singles Chart and earning the Sugababes their first BRIT Award nomination for Best Single. Their debut album One Touch received rave reviews from critics and produced three further top 40 hits. In 2001, Donaghy was replaced by new member Heidi Range, and the band released the innovative mash-up track ‘Freak Like Me’, scoring their first No 1 single. The track was the lead single from what would become their triple-platinum album, Angels with Dirty Faces. Further commercial success and a BRIT Award nomination for Best Album came with 2003’s Three, which went on to achieve double-platinum status. Notable singles included pop classic “Hole in the Head” and “Too Lost in You”, a stunning ballad which featured on the Love Actually soundtrack. The Sugababes continued to release consistently high-quality pop hits through the 00’s. Smash hit single “Push The Button” stayed in the No 1 position for three consecutive weeks in 2005, earning yet another BRIT Award nomination for Best Single before the band’s following two albums, Taller in More Ways and Overloaded: The Singles Collection were both certified platinum. After some time spent away from the music industry, the original Sugababes line-up has reformed to bring their classic pop hits and incredible vocals to audiences across Britain and beyond.
