The refreshing Salmon Cat are a London based four-piece band with a unique and endearing sound that pushes boundaries and blends dreamy vocals with warm and nostalgic guitar riffs. They independently released their debut EP, Wha’appened, in 2020, and their second EP, Supertext, is due out in 2021. When Salmon Cat first started out, the initial idea was to pull their vocals from recordings of vox and bass player Lloyd and guitarist Alfie’s phone conversations. However, the band eventually grew into their current line up with the etherial Jess Smyth joining to provide additional vocals, and Harry Hayman adding depth with his guitar. Currently the band work in laid-back, collaborative sessions out of Lloyd’s bedroom in Kingston, rarely re-working their songs away from their initial demo forms, with Lloyd then mixing and mastering the tracks himself prior to release. Salmon Cat regularly connect with their dedicated followers through Instagram and Facebook, posting pictures and videos of their life both in and out of the recording studio. They also have their own YouTube channel, salmon cat. A number of their tracks, and exclusive interviews, are available on the Vimeo platform.
