Rock legends REO Speedwagon rose to fame in the 1980’s, with the release of their hugely successful album Hi Infidelity which spawned four Top 40 singles. Originally formed by a group of friends who were studying at the University of Illinois, the band started out playing college parties, campus bars and local venues. They began to tour locally and built up a loyal following in the area, playing in bigger and bigger venues and travelling across the Midwest to play shows. They were signed to Epic Records and released their debut album in 1971, putting out an album every year for the next 5 years. After several lineup changes they began to become well known for their live shows and released a live album, Live: You Get What You Play For in 1977. By far their most commercially successful record was Hi Infidelity which came out in 1980, moving the band into the mainstream spotlight and producing four chart topping singles including Keep On Loving You and Take It On the Run. REO Speedwagon played several sold out tour dates, releasing number one single Can’t Fight This Feeling and performing in Live Aid in 1985. Although they have never recreated the commercial success of their earlier albums, REO Speedwagon continue to tour widely and are well known as one of the best live acts on the scene today. They recently received a Diamond Award for sales over 10 million for Hi Infidelity, and made an appearance in the Netflix series Ozark.
