Erickson Fernández, better known under the stage name Mozart La Para, is a dominant force in the Dominican Republic’s urban music scene. His latest single, ‘Mujeres’, has gone Platinum in Spain, hit the Top 20 in charts across Latin America, and racked up almost 40 million views on YouTube, and close to 30 million streams on Spotify. Discovering his passion for music at only twelve years old, Fernández has worked relentlessly to build his career, gradually establishing a reputation as one of the Dominican Republic’s most successful exports, finding critical and commercial success around the world. Nicknamed “Mozart” by his peers with reference to his exceptional compositional talents, Fernández produces a unique sound that has been described as “urban tropical”, a fusion of streetwise lyrics and tropical rhythms that has resonated across the globe. Over the course of his career, he has released several highly successful singles and has been awarded the Premios Soberano – the most prestigious musical award in the Dominican Republic – an incredible six times. In addition to many other popular releases, his 2016 singles ‘Aqui Nadie Toca’ and ‘Toy Enamorao’ was a worldwide hit, charting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Songs chart and earning him global recognition and acclaim. Following this success, Fernández made history in 2016 as the first artist Latin act to be signed by Jay Z’s powerhouse label Roc Nation. Mozart La Para has toured throughout Dominican Republic, Latin America, Europe and the United States, performing at Madison Square Garden and SXSW.
