Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap artist Lunay has exploded onto the music scene, building his career from internet virality to global stardom. The young artist was named Rising Star at the 2019 Premios Juventud, has released several gold and platinum certified records, and is collaborating with many of the biggest names in Latin music. Born Jefnier Osorio Moreno, Lunay was passionate about urban music from a young age, and began uploading freestyle raps to Facebook when he was just 12. He later started to release material on Soundcloud, and soon caught the attention of producers Gaby Music and Chris Jeday, who offered him a record deal. In the summer of 2018 he marked his entry to the industry with the release of several tracks, including the singles Si Te Vas Conmigo and Dejame Saber, and the Amarion collaboration Como La Primera Vez. Over the following months, Lunay’s popularity grew, and his music began to win fans internationally. The single Soltera was viewed more than five million times on YouTube within its first week of release and was certified platinum in Spain, while its remix featuring fellow Puerto Ricans Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny went on to reach the Top 3 in Spain, Argentina and the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. He has since collaborated with the likes of Rauw Alejandro, Nicky Jam, Dimelo Flow and Ozuna, and his records have charted in countries including Italy, Mexico and Switzerland. In late 2019, he released his debut album Épico, which hit No. 2 in the US Top Latin Album Charts. As his star continues to rise, he has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Nunca Es Tarde, and has been featured in magazines including Notion, Billboard and People.
