Jamaican reggae musician Koffee is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, rapper and guitarist quickly gaining a global reputation. Born Mikayla Simspon, the young artist cites the likes of Chronixx and Protoje amongst her influences, and her music is driven by a powerful desire for positive social change. The young Simpson was musically gifted from a young age, singing in her church choir and teaching herself to play the guitar. She got a taste for performing when she competed in and won her high school talent show, and later began to upload videos to Instagram to showcase her singing. In 2017, Koffee self-recorded the single Legend, a tribute to athlete Usain Bolt, and the song quickly went viral online when the sprinter shared it on his own social media. She has followed this up with tracks including Burning, Toast, and W featuring Gunna, and collaborated with Chronixx on a remix of the Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber hit I Don’t Care. In 2019, Koffee released her first EP, Rapture. The record received a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, and Koffee made history as the fourth female solo artist and youngest solo artist ever to be nominated for the award. She has performed on stage with Cocoa Tea at Jamaica’s Rebel Salute and Spain’s Rototom Sunsplash, appeared with Chronixx across the UK and on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and was announced as an opening act for Harry Styles’ Love On Tour in 2020.
