IL DIVO

In 2006, The Guinness Book of World Records listed Il Divo as the most successful classical-crossover act in international history. Their unique brand of operatically performed, popular music has made them a global sensation. As an act, they boast sales of 30 million discs – with 50 reaching No. 1 – and 160 gold and platinum recognitions in over 33 countries. Since Simon Cowell helped form the group back in 2003, Il Divo has released 7 albums and performed 4 sold-out world tours. Some of their most prestigious performances include Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee at Windsor, the closing ceremony of 2012’s summer Olympics and Barack Obama’s Inauguration Ball in Washington DC. The Il Divo outfit is comprised of 4 members: Spaniard Carlos Martin, Swiss tenor Urs Buhler, Frenchman Sebastien Izambard and American tenor David Miller. Together, they celebrate all genres of music – from Broadway and West End classics, to iconic ballads such as Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’. They have also shared the stage with legendary stars like Celine Dion, Katherine Jenkins, Barbara Streisand and Leona Lewis. 7 years after their formation, the group were invited to the Royal Albert Hall to accept the prestigious Artist of the Decade award, from the Classical Brits association. This award recognised Il Divo’s outstanding contribution to the genre, as well as their success in bringing it to the masses.
