HELENE SEGARA

Singer Hélène Ségara is one of France’s best-loved performers, having sold over ten million records and several chart-topping albums. As well as the voice behind smash hit records Au Nome d’une Femme and Humaine, she is known for originating the role of Esmerelda in the global musical sensation Notre Dame de Paris. Born Hélène Rizzo, Ségara wanted to be a singer from an early age, and began performing at bars along the French Riviera as a teenager. She started to write songs, and later moved to Paris, where she met and mixed with fellow musicians and figures from the city’s music scene. Her debut album, Coeur de Verre, was released in 1996, reaching No. 6 and earning platinum certification. Its 2000 follow-up, Au Nom d’une Femme, achieved even greater success, selling over a million copies to earn diamond certification in France and also topping the charts in Belgium. At the same time as she was recording music, Ségara was cast in Richard Cocciante’s musical Notre Dame de Paris in the role of Esmerelda. The part helped mark her international breakthrough, and earned her critical acclaim. To date, Ségara has released over a dozen studio albums, including the Spanish-language Hélène and the Italian-language Amaretti. She has duetted with Andrea Bocelli, Bruno Pelletier, and Joe Dassin, and has performed on stage with Il Divo and Garou. Among her many accolades and recognitions, she has been named Female Artist of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique, Best Female Singer at the Trophy of Women in Gold awards, and has received awards for Revelation of the Year and Francophone Album of the Year at Cannes’ NRJ Music Awards.
