Don Omar is a Puerto Rican reggaeton artist. Along with Daddy Yankee, he is widely regarded as one of the leading artists within his genre. Following the release of his debut LP, Don Omar was propelled into stardom: certified platinum by the RIAA, The Last Don: Live has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. This album won awards such as the Latin Pop Album of the Year, New Artist & Latin Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year and was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2005. This was just the beginning for Omar. His second album King of Kings became the highest-ranking reggaeton album in the top 10 US charts in musical history. With the album coming in at No. 7, Don Omar had surpassed his reggaeton rival Daddy Yankee’s Barrio Fino En Directo, which reached No. 24. By 2007, King of Kings received the Billboard Latin Music Award for Reggaeton Album of the Year and was dubbed the most commercially successful record in the history of reggaeton – at the end of 2009 it boasted sales of up to 4.1 million. Throughout his career, Don Omar has collaborated with globally recognised artists such as Plan B, Lucenzo, Juan Magan, Mims, Syko, Vinny el Vendito, Yunel, Cruz Kendo Kaponi, Syko, Zion & Lennox, and Danny Fornaris. Most recently, Don Omar has decided to partner with his reggaeton rival Daddy Yankee and go on an international concert tour. Selling out arenas in minutes in Las Vegas, Orlando, Los Angeles, New York, Don Omar remains an internationally sought-after performer. .
