DAZZ BAND
The Grammy Award-winning R&B Funk group Dazz Band found popular success in the 1980s and have enjoyed continued success spanning four decades. Best known for records including Keep It Live featuring their smash hit “Let it Whip” additional albums like On the One and Joystick and more have stood the test of time. The Dazz Band formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1976 and started out as Kinsman Dazz, before changing their name in 1980 upon signing to the legendary Motown Records. Producer Reggie Andrews and co-producer Bobby Harris led The Dazz Band to a string of popular hits including: “Joystick:, “Let It All Blow”, “Party Right Here”, “Swoop”. The Dazz Band won a Grammy for Best Performance by a Group or Duo for “Let It Whip” which also went to No 1 in the R&B charts, and was named Billboard Song of the Year. The Dazz Band achieved 20 Billboard R&B hits throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and released over a dozen popular albums. Dazz Band music is featured countless films and sampled by Artists including Lecrae, Justin Timberlake, LunchMoney Lewis and more. The Dazz Band is back in the studio and released their new dance single “Drop It” and plans to release their new ballad “Your Luv” 2020. Led by founder Bobby Harris The Dazz Band is also of long-term members Skip Martin (Lead Vocals/ Trumpet) and Guitarist Marlon ‘The Magician’ McClain as well as drummer Raymond Calhoun and vocalist Donny Sykes. Dazz Band received an NAACP Image Award, and Recognition from the United States Military for entertaining the troops on three trips to Iraq, and earned the key to the city in numerous cities throughout the United States. The Dazz Band has enjoyed worldwide success including on previous tours throughout Europe and Japan and continues to performed along a wide variety of acts including George Clinton, Vanilla Ice, The SOS Band The Beach Boys and more. .
