Corduroy are an influential acid jazz band from London based around twins Ben Addison (on drums and vocals) and Scott Addison (keyboards and vocals) who are back with their famous sense of style in 2018. Though Corduroy was formed back in 1991, the brothers were previously in Sire Records act Boys Wonder, but were later joined by Richard Searle and guitarist Simon Nelson-Smith for this four piece, which has been active on and off since first forming and has released seven studio albums. Signed to Acid Jazz records and Big Cat Records, the band are self-dubbed the ‘fabric four’ and many of their tracks are instrumentals. Several singles from their 1993 album High Havoc charted in the U.K. Top Ten Independent Charts. Their live performances are always electric, with rubber band bass, buzz saw guitars and funky drumming all getting audiences around the world up on their toes as part of a filmic and exciting experience. Back in 2017 the award wining South London band premiered four new songs from an upcoming album The Return of the Fabric Four that is due in May 2018. Lead single ‘Magic Mountain’ was well received by all and picked up plenty of radio play, and will be followed up by ‘Saturday Club’, both of which feature their trademark Hammond organ and melodic electric piano with plenty of 60’s spy theme overtones, mood moscais, jazz passages and samba drums. The album welcomes a new era of the Corduroy story and finds them resigned to Acid Jazz Records–who will release a trio of classic Corduroy albums in 2018–as the label celebrates its 30th year. It is sure to re-confirm that the band is one of the UK’s most loved jazz acts and a group that was way ahead its time. .
