BASIC BLACK

Basic Black is a Motown act who has been signed to the legendary Detroit label since 1990. Famed for an urban new jack swing sound and one of the key proponents of it during its prime, Basic Black cooked up and put out such massive selling hit singles as ‘She’s Mine,’ ‘Nothing But A Party’ and ‘Whatever It Takes.’ The original line-up of this great outfit was Darryl “Dezo” Adams, Lloyd “Spec” Turner, Walter “Mucho” Scott and Kelvin “K.B.” Bradshaw and to this day the group reminds focusses and creative and continues to put out great new singles, as well as performing with accomplished peers such as Keith Sweat. All this started after they were spotted performing at a local talent contest by Gene Griffin. Gene soon wanted to work with the collective and asked them to tour with Today as the official band. Soon after they moved to New York City and expanded from a three man group into a four piece with lead singer Darryl (who was also a part of 90s group ARB) added. Before long they picked up international acclaim and began touring far and wide, playing from Tokyo to Texas. In their time they have put out albums like Basic Blacks well as many great singles. With a great and unique style that features big vocals and lots of well swung dance beats that make people want to move, Basic Black are a fine act who have plenty of experience of live performance behind them. .
