Bacilos is an iconic Latin American pop group, best known for recording the Grammy Award-winning albums Caraluna and Sin Vergüenza. The talented trio consists of Colombian Jorge Villamizar, Brazilian André Lópes, and Puerto Rican José Javier Freire. This culturally diverse group has formulated a reliably successful recipe for producing explosive and colourful Latin hit singles that resonate on the world stage. Bacilos released their first independent studio album Madera in 1999. By 2000, the band signed to Warner Music. Their success was catalyzed by the release of their first major-label album, Bacilos. The album earned Gold certification in Colombia and received nominations for two Latin Grammy Music Awards. The album’s most popular single, Tabaco Y Chanel, gained traction across the globe – so much traction that Alejandro Sanz, a decorated Spanish musician, invited Bacilos to support him on his internationally successful world tour. In 2002, Bacilos released the career-defining album Caraluna. The record rightfully earned a spot on the Billboard Latin charts, earning the dual honours of Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album and Best Album in the Latin Grammys. Caraluna’s title track reached the No 1 spot in the Chilean charts, Top 10 in Argentina, and placed highly in the World and Latin Billboard charts by the end of 2002. Notable hit singles ‘Mi Primer Millón’ and ‘Solo un Segundo’ subsequently reached Billboard’s World and Latin Music charts in 2003. Bacilos’ third studio album, Sin Verguenza, was yet another chart-topping, Grammy-winning success. The single ‘Pasos de Gigante’ quickly rose to the No 1 spot in Argentina and No 2 in Chile. It reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Latin singles charts in late 2004. After breaking up in 2006, the band reunited in 2017 to produce yet another hit, ‘Por Hacerme el Bueno.’ In August of 2018, the timeless trio released their latest studio album ¿Donde Nos Quedamos?, to critical acclaim. .
